Bluebonnets in Big Bend
Our Trip to the Big Bend Region

When I told my mom we were planning to spend our vacation in the Big Bend area, she made a big face and asked why in the world would we want to go there? She warned that there was nothing there but a bunch of rocks and cactus. Well, who would have thought that you would find bluebonnets in Big Bend. I knew I just had to take a picture or she'd never believe me.

After traveling from Interstate 10 down 90 to Del Rio, we found we had plenty of daylight left, so we traveled on to Big Bend National Park and spent our first night there in Chisos Basin, one of 4 different campgrounds inside the park. Here are some of the pictures we took while we were there.

I think what captured my heart the most were the stars at night. I wish we could have taken at least one picture of them, but our camera isn't able to do that. So, I will tell you that when you look up at night from your sleeping bag the view just takes your breath away. It might be the single most reason that people never want to leave.

The picture to the right was taken the morning we were leaving for Terlingua and Study Butte. This little mocking bird was getting a lot of pleasure teasing our little dog Fox. He was probably hoping that we would leave some tasty little morsels of food when we finally left.
